Voter fraud from Republican-hired company
October 13, 2004 It's not only Florida that has had questions about the legitimacy of the voting process. Here in Florida the Secretary of State (the person in charge of elections) is appointed by the governor. The governor here is Jeb Bush - Dubya's brother. The Secretary of State in the 2000 election (Kathleen Harris) was one of Dubya's campaign managers (can you say conflict of interest?) and this time around the Secretary of State (Glenda Hood) is also involved in the Bush campaign. We can go on and on about the crooked manner in which Bush got in last time. But that's been covered before ...and we definitely have not forgotten!
Well it seems that in Nevada and elsewhere they're having some problems as well. Now just because the National Republican Party hired a company that ripped up and discarded voter registrations from Democrats, and just because that company lied when it told people it's name, and just because vote counting was stopped in Florida in 2000 before it was done - and as the Gore counts were rising - ....none of that proves that there was any wrongdoing. Still...if it looks like a duck, and walks like a duck, and quacks like a duck ....it might be a duck. I hope the FBI is allowed to continue looking into this, and I hope if they find anything, that they are allowed to act on it. The way Ashcroft and the Bush crew are trashing the Constitution, I seriously do not know if the FBI would be allowed to act.
I do firmly believe that George W Bush cannot win this election honestly. But regardless of who ends up being elected or selected, I - along with many, many others - will keep a much tighter eye on our government.
It's extremely unfortunate that it had to get this bad in order to wake us up.
Politics War sucks
October 12, 2004 I was working this morning and happened to be listening to Dixie Chicks ...I don't care if some Bush-a-holics don't like them; I like them a LOT and bought several albums when Natalie made her 'statement'. Anyway....This morning I was listening to 'Travelin' Soldier'. That tune hits me every time I hear it. War is so insane. So much suffering, so many lives and hearts just ripped apart. Such callous disregard for humanity. UGH! When will we humans get our act together?

October 11, 2004 I should also mention that you can view the current Doonesbury strip each day online. And at the same site you can get a Daily Briefing of news. What could be easier? |
